LOTE - French

The LOTE program in French is based on the AIM program developed by Wendy Maxwell. AIM stands for Accelerated Integrated Method which is a fancy name for a unique immersion style program which relies strongly on the use of hand gestures (a form of sign language) which help the students retain new words and structures.

The gesture method also assists the teacher in creating and sustaining an immersion environment in which the whole class speaks much of the time in chorus or chorus with individual responses. Spontaneous student speech in French occurs at a much higher frequency than other language programs.

Students rehearse, memorize, and produce a whole play entirely in French twice a year as well as learning traditional French songs and smatterings of culture throughout the year.
